MySpace Will Block Predators
MySpace has long been a haven for kids and thier friends. About 12% of MySpace's visitors in October were under 18. Unfortunately, predators know this and use this to target kids.
MySpace has announced that it will install a system to track and eliminate online Registered Sex Offenders (RSO). This week, MySpace is striking back, announcing a broad program in partnership with Sentinel Tech, an expert in online background checks, to screen MySpace users against 46 sex offender registries. The database will contain the names and physical descriptions of convicted sex offenders in the U.S. An automated system will search for matches between the database and MySpace user profiles. Employees will then delete any profiles from the website that match.
Finally! This is long over due. It looks like all of the complaints and emails have finally paid off.
